"Potentially libelous" you say, (Ray Criscoe)?
Okay. I'm game. Try some facts on for size. FNB stock, once valued at something around $30/share, closed at 0.33 CENTS/share today (just barely up from an all-time low of 0.28 CENTS/share).
Today, the Courier Tribune (one of Mike's biggest cheer-leaders over the years) announced the bank lost 55.7 million dollars in its third quarter.
But hey, that's better than the $68.3 million the bank lost this time last year.
And/so I'm quite certain there are a lot of people in Asheboro who don't think Mike's notions of "wealth management" are that much to write home about . . . that is, if they can afford to keep their homes.
(OBTW, despite community scuttlebutt, Mike apparently didn't get his MBA from Harvard either.)
Despite his record, and courtesy of a strong recommendation from the North Carolina Commerce Secretary (yes, boys and girls, our COMMERCE SECRETARY), Keith Crisco, Miller (also a Board member at Randolph Hospital) CAN be named President of Pfeiffer University . . . over two apparently much better-qualified applicants.
I gotta say, one of those suckas wuz robbed.
I mean if you look at that CV/resume . . . and then compare it to Mikey's actual accomplishments for real people/FNB shareholders . . . it's crystal clear to everyone but a
You just have to shake your head in wonderment. What the HELL i$ going on? Is there really NO JUSTICE in this world? Is the whole state/nation just morally bankrupt and beyond any kind of redemption?
One thing is crystal clear. "Right people" take care of their own.
And it's a very sad day for the students at Pfeiffer University.
In this day and age, this is really not the kind of lesson the board of TRUSTees of a University should be teaching to the next generation.

Based on Mikey's stewardship of Community One Bank, I have full faith and confidence that Pfeiffer University will become a leader in the fields of taxidermy and cosmetology.

Those buffoons running Pfeiffer passed on a guy such as this....? Man, that race was fixed....
I expect we'll see a glowing write-up in the Wobegon, excuse me, Courier Tribune, tomorrow morning.
On the upside, I'm thinking he has to re-locate.
Don't fret, he won't allow any of the Right people's children there. When I was working at what used to be FNB, he was sending his daughter to Greensboro Day School....because of the inferior quality of Asheboro High School. Hmmm, so much for small town values, community spirit....Sorta makes me wonder if he ever banked where he worked...? I can only hope that he owns a load of the stock. At $.30+ per share, what a bargain now!
Indeed, Buzz. We've both had fairly large doses of Asheboro's "brand" of "home and heart" haven't we?
A strong connection to the Dark Side Pfeiffer College now has.
