I'm not one to pee in the cornflakes of good people who deserve accolades. Especially if they are a nurse.
By all accounts, oncology nurse, Kay Yow, is such a person.
Alas, I cannot read one of these Jordanesque "puff pieces" without an overwhelming sense of bitterness (we'll have more on that later - courtesy of my old pal Buzz Armfield of the Asheboro Armfields - whose name in on Randolph's Cancer Center).
Fortunately, on this fine Labor Day, when I have better things to do than blog, there's an old post from the Housecalls archives (September 2008) that keeps me from having to repeat myself:
Randolph Hospital Wouldn't Know A Healthcare Hero If She Jumped Up (With Her Clothes On) And Sued Them
If you do hit the link and read through, you'll note that Randolph Hospital CEO, Bob Morrison, has some interesting notions about nurses.
Afternoon update:
In the spirit of saving the world one rug at a time (yes, that was sarcasm), I took my wallet to Troy today.
