There's a photo (credited to Paul Church) prominently featured on the Courier Tribune's website. Underneath is the following caption:
Nothing to worry about ... Registered Nurse Carolyn Koser explains x-rays to students from Lindley Park Elementary School Wednesday at the annual Teddy Bear Fair at Randolph Hospital. This week, more than 1,500 second-graders from 21 schools will visit the hospital for the fair, designed to help reduce children’s fears of visiting a hospital and having routine medical procedures performed.
The thing is that this is NOT really about "decreasing children's fears of visiting a hospital".
It's about MARKETING and decreasing the childrens' parents' fear of Randolph Hospital.
Big difference.
Little Johnny or little Suzy goes home and tells Mommy/Daddy that things aren't as bad as they've heard for years and years courtesy of the small town grapevine.
And on the Internet.
