On The Theory of Criminal Extortion In The Greensboro Hotel Wars

Dr. Joe Guarino has a great post up . . . posing an interesting question: Do some of the threats tossed back and forth between Council Members and County Commissioners in the Great Greensboro Hotel Debacle rise to the level of criminal extortion?

I could not help myself:

The answer to your question is yes, Joe. But as for "the next step", who in North Carolina would you suggest the victims of this crime appeal to?

Local law enforcement (where police officers do the very same thing in the form of bogus EEOC complaints and frivolous lawsuits)?

The local newspaper (that can't seem to stop playing the tired, worn-out race card)?

The SBI (a direct appeal is not an option for private citizens)?

Our BEYOND-USELESS Attorney General (who is paralyzed by his desire to one day be Governor)?

The FBI (whistle-blowers are SOL and lawsuits are a black hole)?

Our Senators and Congressmen/women (buying votes with stimulus money)?

Been there. Done ALL of that. Even got accused of "extortion" (I believe your "affirmative defense" more-than-applies) by the fine mill-town upstandings who ultimately lied-under-Oath (
it's called perjury and it does not have a statute of limitations) to minimize what they paid out (they apparently don't need a defense because "people lie in Court every day").

Told I was "irrelevant" (not-to-mention "crazy") by the "business-as-usual" crowd.

Got
nasty, threatening e-mails from another blogger too . . . in an attempt to EXTORT my silence.

That didn't register with the deep-blue-progressives-who-cannot-stand-violence-against-women either. You see, they hate me, ergo I deserved it.

The state of our union sucks.

So does being the not-connected-to-the-right-people/no-name victim of a crime in the North Carolina Justice system.

"Pursuing" crime IS the problem when most of the people you're pleading your case to are sleazeballs themselves.

The thread at Joe's continues, we'll keep it there.

Afternoon Update: Turns out (as his victims were looking to call the cops) Skippy didn't really mean it. Shameless jerk.
