Hat-tip to Stormy: An ominous, stand-alone piece from the American Thinker on individual physician conscience that suggests perhaps we are not thinking very far ahead.
My conscience made me go in on that fateful night in January 1998. I could not just roll over and go back to sleep after the nurses' call. I could not ignore what happened - or why. And I could not not report it (apologies to Mom for the double-negative).
For my trouble, my life and career in my hometown was ripped to shreds. And few people really gave a damn.
Of course, JR/Cone/Roch don't think my experience in Asheboro (right under their &^%$#!noses) is relevant to anything.
But it was the right decision. What the hell is wrong with our community and our regulatory bodies and our government that my decision was "rewarded" in the fashion it was . . . and that my situation has been allowed to go on for so long . . . while Bob Morrison & Steve Eblin keep happily collecting their fat "non-profit" paychecks?
