Pulling Teeth

The Courier reports that "evil Keith" Crisco's seat on the Asheboro City Council has been filled . . . by a retired dentist with all the "right people" connections. As one of Asheboro's "wrong people", reading the Courier's take made me cringe - it was like having your teeth pulled.

I hear Dr. Fountain came to Asheboro several years back and fell in love with its small town charm. Rumor has it that he's a reasonable guy who has been able to do his own thing. And birds tell me that despite all the "right people" contacts, Asheboro's newest councilman is someone who won't be so easily pigeon-holed or beholden to the local cabals that come with the small town charm. Of course, I've heard it all before.

The first thing Dr. Fountain needs to understand is that Snot (excuse me, Tot) Hill Farms is not Dave's Mountain. The second thing he needs to understand is that we do need some change - starting at the top - starting with accountability.

For starters, I also wonder what the dentist thinks about what happened to the doctor that came home. I'm sure all his good friends on Rotary and at church have filled him in.
