Well, folks, after sending gobs of e-mails & letters over the last five years, trying to find some elusive "non-profit"/medical-legal "accountability" in "dying" Asheboro, North Carolina . . . only to be blown off without reply . . . I am on the Governor's e-mail list.
The e-mail heralded six executive orders Perdue signed yesterday, proclaiming a "first day of change". I must say, in terms of my experience (as an indentured servant for US & NCDHHS) with a local "non-profit" hospital . . . and the total waste of tax dollars & resources associated with the nastiness said hospital dished out . . . numbers five and six have potential.
As a Dave's Mtn neighbor reminded me this week, I certainly discovered the value/usefulness of public hearings this past year. A couple of appearances at city council meetings accomplished what four years in the GSO blogosphere (trying to play "citizen journalism" on the Coneheads' terms) did not.
I'm still trying to figure out how I got on Bev's list. I mean, I've heard nary a peep about (my case against the lying dweebs at Randolph Hospital) from any of the "great lawyers" in Raleigh for quite a while. I'm a registered Independent. I did not send Bev money. And I damned-well didn't vote for her.
Maybe it had something to do with this? Could Mike Easley be more useless or lame?
Afternoon Update: I got a very strange e-mail in my Inbox this morning from "Lyris ListManager" (which, from the address on the link, seems to be associated with the UNC university system), that offered a link for "unsubscribing" from "phpr-p". No explanation was offered. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I dunno what is going on.
But at the risk of sounding paranoid, if this has anything to do with being on the Governor's e-mail list, NOT-SO-FAST Bubbette . . .
. . . I'm gonna stay on for a while. This could be fun.
