C-Sections: Whoa, Baby!

I expect Pediatricians covering hospital nurseries everywhere (especially rural ones) will welcome this study out of UNC-Chapel Hill.

Babies delivered by cesarean section before 39 weeks are more likely to suffer respiratory problems and other complications than later-term births.

Of course, it's something Pediatricians already knew. Maybe the study & recommendations will change Obstetrical practices in terms of how inductions and sections are scheduled. Perhaps we can get the C-Section rates (North Carolina's average is 31% - compared to the national average of 30%) down.

Update: The N&O's AM version of the story.
