I've always thought outgoing Asheboro Police Chief Gary Mason was a "good guy". There's no question about that really.
But as an "average person who loved her community" enough to come home and serve it . . . only to be treated like dirt by the white-collars that "own" the town . . . Chief Mason did not "do right" by me.
The "boys" at Randolph weren't a street gang, but they acted like thugs all the same. I wonder if the Chief might have acted differently had it been his grandbaby I came in to help.
I could write a book too.
Heavy sigh. Even "good guys" have to play the game I suppose.
Adieu, Mr. Mason. Enjoy your retirement. But you left a case file sitting on your shiny desk.
