An Unscientific Poll

I've been meeting a lot of new people lately. Lots of folks ask me where I am from, and I tell them I'm from Asheboro.

These days most everybody associates Asheboro with the zoo (whereas in the past, many folks confused Asheboro with Asheville and waxed poetic on how much they loved the mountains).

Inspired by the election, and out of curiosity, I've asked everyone who says they've been to the zoo (most were in Asheboro for one day - or a weekend), if a desire to chug alcohol at a local restaurant (after visiting the zoo) ever factored into their desire to make the trip (or return for another visit).

Not one of them has said yes. A few have looked at me like I was crazy. And one grandmother (just yesterday morning) admonished me, "I was with my grandchildren!".

The perfect storm....visitor to zoo imbibes heavily, has sudden desire to climb into an exhibit full of creatures that don't peacefully coexist with humans, visitor is maimed horribly, then treated at Randolph Hospital.

This would make a great made for television movie, or even a better documentary film with our own Dr. J as the narrator.
