May It Be Well With Your Soul

I have blogged before on what this song, sung by my Timmy at my Father's funeral, means to me.

I felt compelled to hit the play button tonight. In these profoundly troubling times - when I know many people are hanging onto faith by their fingernails, I thought someone who reads this blog might need to do the same.

While I'm at it, Miss Dolly Parton, can raise rooftops and lift spirits too.

Music is a wonderful thing.

"I hope you get a blessing out of it." May it be well with your soul tonight.

Truly, a beautiful and inspiring song, especially when one knows the true story behind it's authorship. One would expect such sentiments when all is going well but to be able to pen such words after unspeakable tragedy is awe-inspiring.

The Star Spankled Banner is another song that becomes the more beautiful when one becomes aware of the true story behind it. I was taught that it was written while key watched a battle from a ship.

That part is true but it was a Bristish war ship filled with
American prisoners and Frances Scott keys was there to secure their freedom. he was promised that all would be freed if the American flag was still flying the next morning. After firing at the fort through the night with all the Royal Navy could deliver, the flag was torn and battered but still flying, held high by the hands of the dead would gave thewir own lives willingly to keep the fly from falling.

Thyanks for passing along the story of that song. It makes a beautiful song even more precious.
