If there was EVER any doubt in anyone's mind about just how SORRY/USELESS/IN THE TANK/UP THE "RIGHT" BUTTS our local daily newspapers are, look no further than this.
As a result of the lawsuit filed by Sam Spagnola and Roch Smith, Mitchell Johnson has conceded that the "black book" was used appropriately, and was not used to target black officers. He has also conceded there is no evidence to suggest that it was used that way.
In addition, Bledsoe indicates the city had information in its possession that should have made all of this obvious way back in the late summer of 2005.
These concessions made by Mitchell Johnson, nearly three years after all the damage was done, are directly contrary to the assertions he had made about the "black book" that were used to justify his actions in the GPD fiasco. The assertions he made were dutifully reported in the News and Record and on WFMY-TV-- and it turns out they were lies or, at best, flagrant errors-- very costly errors. The city is now beset with lawsuits and EEOC actions.
Now, for your consideration, an oldie but goodie: Burned Citizen Journalism. The Greensboro News and Record is a JOKE!
Who's "wacky" now? I'll take your "wack" and raise you a "mental".
I guess lawsuits are good for something. Cudos to Sam and to Roch.
If I ever had any doubts about what I have to do, I don't anymore.
