Spinning Gold From Mud

Given that tourism is now Asheboro/Randolph County's new be-all-and-end-all (drink up!), George Gussler can't say enough good things about the current situation in Seagrove (actually an ugly meltdown that was years in the making). George being George, he's trying to spin gold. Can't say as I blame him. I'd like to see things calm down/smooth over in the muddy land down/under Asheboro.

The Courier announced today that SAPA (Seagrove Area Potters Association), a non-profit whose area of expertise is apparently marketing, has merged with the group of potters sponsoring the "rouge" festival (A Celebration of Seagrove Potters) . . . to be held on the same November weekend as the 27th annual Seagrove Pottery Festival, sponsored by the NC Museum of Traditional Pottery.

It's confusing, I know. I was trying to explain it all to Mom on the phone the other night. Lots of twists and turns in the story. And I'm still not clear on all of the players and where they sit/stand.

But I would like to hear Phil Morgan's explanation for these flyers . . . which I've been told are being circutlated by the NC Museum of Traditional Pottery.

I really don't see any way to spin that.
