Well, As Of Tonight, I Am Subversive

As I compose this, I am sitting at a picnic table in the water-front park of perhaps the prettiest little NC hamlet there is. It's already dark with a barely-there wisp of moon peaking from behind a cloud, and it's just chilly enough to wear a coat. A mosquito just buzzed me and died horribly for its trouble. A nice man is sitting a few tables over, doing the same thing I am. Behind me (downtown), cars are occasionally cranking and people are going home. Seagulls and birds are making their noises. In the distance, a little rat-dog is yapping defiantly at his owner - objecting to his puckered rat-dog bottom coming in contact with the cold. A plane just flew over.

The water in front of me is black and looks like glass. Church-bells just started playing a little tune.

I feel subversive.

You see, after yesterday's post, my blog will not pull up at work. Well, I take that back. Initially it would not pull up. This morning, when I tried to log on, I got the automated "warning" that Dr. J's Housecalls was subversive (or words to that effect). A short time later, I could pull it up (to read), but could not access it or post comments (my apologies to Brenda, Joe and Billy for the delay).

I am so proud.

So, feeling mildly subversive (but wanting to be up-front about it), I put the practice powers-that-be on notice that if I can't get an open line at work, I will require Internet access at home (it's 2008 after all, and phones and Internet access are a standard part of doctor accomodations . . . even in slow and laid-back Eastern, N.C.).

It was good to hear from you, Cara;). And re: Eastern North Carolina, I agree with you.

It's nice out here right now, but the winter has yet to take hold. As subversive as I may be, I won't be sitting out here when Jack Frost shows up. My fingers are cold.

As I have no plans (Joe) to "clean up the act", feel free to carry on with yours;)

Wow. [Sigh.] Wish I was there. From that description, I almost felt like I was for a moment. You are such a gifted writer!

Enjoy! :)

Oh, I dunno. Never got that happy ending. So probably after I sue the state of North Carolina - a Board, a Bar, and an Attorney General.

Ooo-rah.
