Stepping On Those Medical Blogging Toes

A few posts ago, I said my piece on Kevin MD's candidacy for "best medical weblog" as sponsored by medGadget.

Well, the awards were announced. Kevin did not win.

But a hospital administrator did. In fact, "Running a Hospital" walked away with two awards (including "best health policies/ethics blog").

Given his positions on business and medical ethics , I wonder what Paul Levy's take would be on the kind of garbage one of his own dished out . . . or that the fact that no one in a position of medical or legal oversight in North Carolina has done thing one about it?

I don't really expect an answer to that. Unless, of course, he dumps me in with all of those "disruptive physicians" that seems to be the current corporate marginalizing tool-de-jour.

Honestly incredulous, I posted a comment at the thread at medGadget which announced the awards.

Instead of a direct response on the thread, this morning I found an unhappy retort from "Gene" on (of all things) my SuperNanny post. I copied and pasted the comment to the thread at medGadget (where it actually would continue a dialogue) . . . and posted more thoughts there.

Of course, I won't be able to get back to blogging until after office hours, and my several hour drive home (for a long weekend).

I'm "subversive".

You know I read somewhere, "forgive and you will be forgiven. If you forgive then God in heaven will forgive you. If you forgive not neither will your sins be forgiven you." Just because you forgive and move on doesn't mean that you stop pursuing justice. At the same time just make sure that you are not condoning other crimes or unethical activities committed to protect ones personal interest or reputations as those people did. Jesus said to remove the beam out of your own eye before you attempt to remove the splinter out of your neighbors eye. Then you can see clearly to remove the splinter out of your neighbors eye.

Hi M. You're skirting around the subject of "cheap grace" . . . a topic I could expound on all day . . . given all the "forgive and forget" and/or "sit down, shut up and move on" advice (some of it well-intended and some of it not) I've gotten since starting this blog.

Alas, for me, in this instance, forgiveness is just not going to come without justice. It's a page I've tried to turn and simply cannot. So I've given the forgiveness stuff to God (and admitted I'm not strong enough).

And I keep pouring tea in the harbor of those who played dirty . . . as well as those in a position to do something about it who want so desperately for me to take my ugly true story and "just go away".

On that note . . . I'm seeing some ominous stuff in the medical blogosphere. Just today, medGadget threatened to "ban" me from commenting (for the sin of questioning their methodology - and referencing my own experience with a "third party") in the comment). I'm planning a separate post about that.

I hear what you're saying about throwing stones. With that in mind, I've been painfully honest in this blogosphere. I've blogged about my long-ago battles with depression and an eating disorder . . . about the deaths of family members . . . about being sued (unsuccessfully) for malpractice. A good portion of my life - some of it very personal - is out there for the world to see.

My slate is clean. I sleep well at night.

And I'm seeing a lot clearer than I did just a few years ago . . . traumatized beyond words by liars & cheats who destroyed everything I had worked so hard to build . . . then added insult to injury by wrongfully calling me a liar in the place where I was born and raised.

Thanks for commenting. You're welcome any time.

And that young lady is exactly where it belongs. Maybe my "preaching" to you via our e-mails has not been in vain. That is exactly what God expects us to do, give it to Him. He said, Come to me all of you that are tired , weary, worn out and worn down from the heavy burden, load that has been placed on you and I will give you rest. He goes on to say, My yoke is easy, not easy in terms of wearing such, but the fact that the yoke of olden times was often hand hewn and rough and would chafe the neck of the oxen who were carrying the heavy burden, load. He is saying my yoke has been made smooth so that you can handle the load, the burden that you sometimes carry. Also note that the oxen were always in a team, not a single hitch. So in His saying that His yoke was easy and the burden light, it was made light because by taking his yoke upon us He is the one sharing the yoke and is hitched with us. Yep, young lady, you done hitched your load to the right person.
Now I'll stop preachin but not before I say AMEN to your comment about "cheap grace". Seems a lot of folks want to preach that stuff when the price of grace was certainly not cheap. Again that is a sermon for another day.
