Demonstrating, once again, how on-the-ball North Carolina's health-professions licensing boards are when it comes to ethics, the N&O reports that the State Optometry Board is only just now considering yanking Former House Speaker, Jim Black's optometry license.
According to the article, the Board gives four possible grounds for disciplining Black: substance abuse, alluding to Black's admitted alcoholism; his felony convictions; immoral conduct discrediting the optometry profession; and unprofessional conduct.
Well yeah. Duh. Where were you-all when what you decided might have actually mattered?
Now it's just stomping a man when he's down.
Here's a suggestion to the state of North Carolina: Try stomping some people who deserve it . . . people who have NOT IN ANY WAY been held accountable for their unprofessional and illegal conduct.
Kick 'em when they're up.
Because they thought/think they are above the law.
