Confessions Of Dr. Johnson

Sometimes, very late on my off-nights, while I'm doing paperwork or surfing the net (like tonight), I watch the Trinity Broadcasting Network, aka TBN. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoy watching many of their programs.

The other night I caught one of their "original dramas" that really intrigued me. It's called "The Stranger". The premise is that a present-day, tee-shirt-clad (kinda cute) Jesus Christ visits ordinary people in dire and not-so-dire circumstances and has a chat. He answers their questions (in that oftentimes cagey and endearing way He has), and lifts them up from whatever muck/mood they're mired in.

Of course you can talk to Him anytime you like. But what if He was right in front of you, sharing coffee, and talking back (and no, I don't mean in a schizophrenic kind of way)?

Wouldn't that be the coolest thing?

I had two different conversations this week where I said that I wish Jesus would appear bodily and tell me how to handle some issues not specifically spelled out in the Bible. So yeah, that would be so cool. I envy the disciples and the people who had Him here in the flesh. Imagine just being with Him and asking Him questions directly. Wow. I can't wait. I wish I could do that now. And not just the questions. I wish I could see Him now. So yeah, that would be the very coolest thing... :)

I wish that all the time . . . or that He'd send one or two of those angels (with swords) to protect me.

One would think that would be cool but if you remember, only eleven of the deciples actually accepted Christ for who He was, and the eleven who did never understood him until after his resurrection.

A questionairre once asked "If I could invite three people to dinner who would they be?"

I would want to invite Adam, the first man, because he could answer so many questions about creation and civilization,my father, because he is deceased and knows the truth first hand and can tell me of all his experiences in the afterlife, and Noah, who could clarify so many questions about what happened to man after the flood.

Jesus said where two or three are gathered together in my name, I will be there with them and when He departed this earth He said and"Lo, I am with you always."

I never cared much for the heaven that preacher's preach about. For me, heaven would be like a big history lesson where one could watch a person's life from the beginning until the end so I could know all the important answers to creation and life. maybe that will happen during the thousand years on earth we will share with Christ.

I'm afraid that if Christ would want to pay me a visit, I'd be like Adam and feel so ashamed and stupid that I'd want to go hide somewhere.

Hi,

There is no need to imagine...he is here and hearing. Keep on talking to him.

I believe there are many more than two angels watching and protecting the fine doctor.

Fall certainly generates some beautiful settings...majestic.

Dale the neat thing about this show is how easily Jesus puts people at ease. They don't feel as if they need to hide.

I think there are as many heavens as there are souls.

I'd invite Pops, and Granddaddy Cecil, and Cousin Bill.

MeB, I hope those angels have some swords at the ready. I will need them at my back if I do what I'm fairly sure I'm gonna do soon.

I am now counting days to come home.
