Chipmunks Rule

Courtesy of Cousin Russell, a quiz called "What's your political persuasion?".

Given that just last week, one of the YaYas . . . trying to fix me up with a new man (just to see the sparks fly when we verbally sparred) . . . told me that she told him I was a "liberal Republican", I decided to take this test.

Lo and Behold, I, like Russell, tested out as a "Conservative Democrat", ala Joe Liberman (I wish I could make the link work . . . my favorite Independent really does look like a happy chipmunk).

What's left of my Father's ashes are swirling in the urn.

Just as Russell was stunned at the "Conservative" label, I choked BIGTIME on "Democrat".

And the next time Russell and I see one another, I expect we will have lots to talk about - not to mention a good laugh.

Oh, and Russell, what's up with that "starboard side of the family" crack?

You'd better watch your back at the next Waters family reunion.

It's not a crack, Doc. Just an objective assessment of where some members of my family stand on the political spectrum.

You're not ASHAMED of it, are you?

As for watching my back at the next family reunion, I've been wondering if there will be another one. The last reunion was three years ago, and it's so difficult to find a good time to get everybody together.

I don't REALLY expect a whipping if we have another reunion. But if I look at the dinner table and see wet noddles anywhere, I'll know I'm in trouble.

Speaking as someone who was minimally involved in the planning behind the scenes, events like 2004 are very hard to bring together, Russell. And much has happened between then and now. I've only been back to "The J" once since that glorious gathering. It was bittersweet: A memory in every corner.

Hardly ashamed. I think if you had an in-depth discussion with one of our cousins, you might better appreciate why we on the "starboard" side of the family believe that we are where we are because of the foreign policy (or more appropriately lack thereof) of the reformed cad who wants to be our "First Man".

See no evil. It's a hallmark of those who grace the port side of the political spectrum.

Moreoever, we haven't learned anything. So we're gonna see some more evil.

Wet noodles are not served at The J.
