Per Fox8 WGHP News:
No federal charges in GPD investigation
An FBI investigation into the Greensboro Police Department is complete, and no federal charges will be filed. The FBI office in Charlotte began investigating the department in January after accusations of racism and wrongdoing surfaced. Those allegations led the current police chief, David Wray, to resign. Wray's attorney says his client was not surprised by the news.
N&R Editor, John Robinson (as per commentary on his blog) was clued into the development this morning - by one of those pesky "conservtive" bloggers always nipping at his heels for the way this story has been "reported" by the News & Record.
Maybe now, the SBI will investigate how the leak of the RMA report (to the N&R) happened. Note to JR: Perhaps the paper's "coverage" of this case is the reason the FBI didn't clue you in to the scoop. PLUS you've burned all those bridges with the Greensboro City Council - by making that ludicrous deal with your "source" - a deal that did not just protect the source's identity, but let "the source" decide what you would do with the information you got because of the deal.
I'm also still marveling that charges of wrongdoing on the part of a public servant were actually investigated.
What a concept. Must be a sign of the apocalypse.
