I've had enough reality this weekend . . .
Although I was raised by a man who sat just to the right of Jesse Helms in the political spectrum, and these days am registered as an "Independent" (friends call me a "Republocrat"), I have always thoroughly enjoyed the NBC series "The West Wing" . . . where the White House is ruled by Democrats doing bad Kennedy impressions and the First Lady is (Dr.) Rizzo.
Several episodes, especially the one about choosing two "Supremes" at the same time, were just sublime. It makes one positively wistful in the wondering, what if the world really worked that way? I've also been intrigued by the ironies in casting.
I look forward to finding out who wins the election tonight.
Alas, the show has become less relevant over the years - in large part because, in President Josiah Bartlett's world, the Twin Towers still stand.
